Client: Talmo Baptist Church

  • Visual Identity

  • Talmo Baptist Church, nestled in the heart of historic Talmo, Georgia, has been a vital part of the community since its founding in 1911. For over a century, it has served not only as a place of worship but also as a gathering point for fellowship, faith, and local heritage. As one of the town’s most enduring landmarks, the church stands as a living testament to Talmo’s deep-rooted traditions and the generations of families who have built their lives around it.

  • The goal was to give this historic Church a modern visual identity while keeping its historic roots. We also wanted to make something that reflected the churches strong community and overall warmth of the congregation as well as the town of Talmo.

The steeple of Talmo Church is more than just an architectural feature, it’s a defining symbol of both the church and the city itself. Visible from nearly every corner of Talmo, the steeple stands as a landmark and a point of recognition, making it the perfect icon to represent Talmo Church to the world. While the design has been simplified for clarity and versatility across all mediums, large and small, it remains a faithful depiction of the original steeple.

The Mark

Sketching

From the start of the sketching process, I knew the church steeple would be the focal point of the design—it’s the most recognizable and symbolic element of Talmo Baptist Church. The challenge was finding the right way to present it: balancing simplicity with meaning, tradition with modern clarity. Through a series of rough sketches, I explored different angles, shapes, and compositions, testing how the steeple could represent both the church’s physical presence and its spiritual foundation. Each iteration helped refine the concept until the form felt timeless and true to the character of the church and its community.
